CALLS FOR ART:
“Sum Sum Summ-A-Time” Final Days! Exhibition Dates 8/6/26 - 8/30/26 Submissions Due 7/22/26 Artist Notification 7/26/26
Artsy Online Exhibit- It's summertime and we invite you to submit work for consideration in our Drawing Rooms exhibit, “Sum Sum Summ-A-Time”, the first online-only exhibition presented on Artsy.net! APPLY ON CaFE -here We'd like to see both works relating to the theme of summer:
scenes and places
summer food
leisure
flora and fauna
the colors, sensations and experiences of summertime
works you made during this or any other summer
works made in a warm weather climate
imagery of what you would like to do in the summer
work made during a summer residency program
anything else you can make a case for that relates to the concept of summer.
Let's capture summer's essence! Many famous artists have created works on the theme of summer: Carole Feuerman’s bathing-capped swimmers, Milton Avery’s beach scenes inspired by summers in Massachusetts and Maine, Peter Doig’s warm-weather and tropical paintings made after his move to Trinidad, Gauguin’s Tahiti, Monet and Manet’s painting of French coastline beaches, David Hockney's swimming pool paintings, Alex Katz' Maine beach paintings- what about yours? There are too many songs about summer—from Billie Holiday: Summertime, Earth Wind and Fire: Hot Fun in the Summertime, Beach Boys: California Girls, Lana Del Rey: Summertime Sadness, Ramones: Rockaway Beach, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince: Summertime, The Beatles: Here Comes the Sun, to Weezer: Island in the Sun, and more, that we just can’t decide on our favorite!

We invite you to submit work for consideration in our Drawing Rooms exhibit, “Torn”. In this show we are looking to expand on the definition of and concepts surrounding the word "torn" by featuring exciting works which result in whole or part from the action of tearing the material it is composed of (ex: collage, fiber, painting, assemblage), documentation of the residue of the action (ex: a photograph) or through the creation of a composition with competing elements or narratives which don't completely unite (ex: drawing, painting, sculpture). Many well-known artists channel their emotional energies into making work that embodies and transcends the experience of being human. They do this after internalizing events they experience (either personally or occurring outside themselves) and reinterpreting these events through elegant formal means or the juxtaposition of textures, forms and color. They may also render their work by tearing, repairing and reassembling their materials as a way of processing the events in whole or part which may or may not be visible to the viewer. There may be a sense of joy and freedom in the act of tearing a material from which something new is created. Competing elements or narratives may also create an exciting intellectual and visceral tension. Artists chosen will also be considered for our other programs, such as The Art Project JC lobbies, and online Artsy.net exhibits throughout the year.
Exhibition Dates 9/10/26 - 10/11/26 Deadline: 8/11/26 Apply on CaFE Anything goes for our Drawing Rooms Solo Project Space 8 exhibition! We are looking for an exciting and compelling cohesive body of work or installation on any theme or concept and of any size or media for our Solo Project Space. A layout of the Project Space can be found at the Site Plan area of the application. Artists will also be considered for inclusion in our other programs, such as The Art Project JC lobbies, and online Artsy.net exhibits throughout the year.
